I heard the news 30 years of “Yesterdays” ago. And, “oh boy” was it stunning.
I didn’t hear it when it first broke. I was sleepy-bye. But, when my radio-alarm clock went off at about 5:20 in the morning, WPLJ-FM New York City newscaster, Shelly Sonstein broke the news to me. Imagine

My friends were stunned and saddened. But, I was still a kid. I didn’t quite get the enormous influence of this one man on generations. Well, do give a gal a chance to grow up. I think, 30 years later, that I get it.
